§ 2.12.030. Arrest and citation for violations of statute or county ordinance—Authority.

  • Certain classifications of officers and employees of the county, as designated by resolution adopted by the board of supervisors, are authorized, pursuant to Section 836.5 of the Penal Code, to arrest any person without a warrant whenever he or she has reasonable cause to believe that the person to be arrested has committed a misdemeanor or an infraction in his or her presence which is a violation of a statute or an ordinance of the county, heretofore or hereafter enacted, and to issue a notice to appear and to release such person on his or her written promise to appear in court, pursuant to Section 853.6 of the Penal Code; provided, however, that such employees have successfully completed a special enforcement training program administered by the sheriff of the county.
